Amber Alert cancelled for Deming girl


The Deming Police Department says they have located 8-year-old Chelsea Boomgaarn. The child was reported missing earlier Friday by her grandmother who says her biological mother took the girl without legal authority to do so. The abduction triggered a state-wide Amber Alert.




The New Mexico State Police and the Deming Police Department have issued an Amber Alert for 8-year-old Chelsea Boomgaarn, who was allegedly taken from the home of her grandmother by her non-custodial mother.

According to investigators, Chelsea's mom, Laurie Curtis, 47, has no legal rights to take Chelsea. Curtis is described as 5'5", approximately 135 pounds with dirty blonde hair and blue eyes.

Chelsea is described as 4' tall weighing about 90 pounds with dark blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a  pink shirt with the words 'Beautiful' and jean shorts.

Curtis is believed to be driving a silver 2007 KIA minivan with New Mexico plates bearing NM KXN-585.
