EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - If you and your sweetheart are looking for ways to express your love this Valentine's week, Ascarate Park is giving you the chance to do just that!
Park crews installed a heart-shaped metal structure along the eastern shore of the lake. There, couples can place locks on the hearts to represent their everlasting love.
Those participating are encouraged to share photos of their locks on social media using the hashtag #lovaeascarate.
Park officials are reminding the public that the keys to the locks should either be kept or thrown away in designated areas. Throwing them in the lake will be considered littering, and can result in expulsion from the park.
In addition to the display, Ascarate Park is also hosting a free drive-in screening of "50 First Dates" on Valentine's evening.
The romantic comedy will be shown on the largest inflatable screen in the city. The sound from the movie wil be broadcast on speakers and over the radio on a designated station.
