'Celebration of Lights' to illuminate San Jacinto Plaza

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - San Jacinto Plaza is about to get lit -- literally!

The City of El Paso is hosting its annual Celebration of Lights event Saturday from 4:30 to 11 p.m.

The event will include the traditional tree-lighting ceremony and parade, where visitors can enjoy vibrant colors with more than 400,000 mini-lights, 120 decorated trees, and a 30-foot holiday tower tree.

According to a news release, Mayor Dee Margo will participate in the ceremonial switch to light the plaza at 5:55 p.m., followed by the parade at 6 p.m.

The parade route runs through Downtown El Paso and includes lighted floats, marching units, and bands. See the full route below:


In addition to the Celebration of Lights event, other WinterFest activities will include a Holiday Market from 12 to 8 p.m., a Holiday Bazaar from 1 to 11 p.m., and more.
