Child's art project tackles controversial topic

El Paso, Texas (KTSM) - A painting by a local elementary school student is now in our nation's capital being seen by law makers to show one side of a heated national debate.

Second grader Zoe Torres is taking on the controversial topic of immigration with her painting
called "Lost". It's a little girl reaching over a wall.  You can see the El Paso star  in the background.
Zoe is 7 years old.  She submitted the painting for the Eastwood Heights Elementary School PTA art show called Reflections.

The painting, like the controversial issue it depicts, made its way to Washington D.C. thanks to the Diocese of El Paso. They traveled to our nation's capital with the work of art,  to meet with Congress about the border wall.
