Family claims missing SISD boy found dead

EL PASO, Texas - The SISD student reported missing and possibly armed has been found dead, according to family members.

Devin, a freshman at Pebble Hills High School, was found dead lying in the desert with a pistol next to his body, according to a fundraising page created by his cousin.

According to the GoFundMe page, police called it “self-mutilation by gunshot.”

A spokesperson with the El Paso Police Department would not confirm that information, but said the investigation is ongoing.

As KTSM previously reported, officials with the Socorro Independent School District increased security at three schools on Thursday after a parent said their child left home with a weapon.

SISD has not responded to KTSM’s requests for more information.

However, according to the GoFundMe page, Devin was the victim of bullying.

Devin’s cousin, Michelle Rada wrote, “This is a tragic event when a child who is bullied to the point he feels like there is nowhere else to turn. He was so happy and beautiful but on the inside he was screaming help me.”

Devin’s body was discovered on Friday by his father and uncle.

The money from the GoFundMe page will be used to lay his body to rest, according to Rada.
