EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - Coming together for a good cause -- that's what members of the community are doing Saturday morning as they compete in the annual Fire Truck Pull fundraising event at Ascarate Park.
Groups of 10 friends, family members, and colleagues are putting their strength to the test by attempting to pull a 55,000-pound fire truck for 75 feet. The group who hauls the truck in the fastest amount of time wins.
Officials say the Fire Truck Pull benefits the Special Olympics Texas athletes in the Greater El Paso area. According to a news release, all proceeds raised at the event will help provide sports programs and competitions for the more than 2,300 El Pasoans living with intellectual disabilities.
Special Olympics officials say efforts like the Fire Truck Pull helped raise more than $1 million last year.
Good luck to all competitors!
