Heavy wind and snow flurries on Transmountain

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - Snowfall in El Paso Thursday certainly caught many people's attention. One of the areas that saw some of the heaviest winds and snowfall was on Transmountain, where wind gusts reached up to 35 mph making the temperature feel as low as 21 degrees.

For El Pasoans like Brenda Mata it was a special moment seeing Thursday's snowfall.

"I love that it snows because it actually makes it feel like Christmas is coming, it's right around the corner," Mata said.

She pulled off the road to view the winter event from Transmountain. She says even though it was extremely cold, it was a rare and beautiful experience.

The weather also took on traffic, causing low visibility and sleek roads.

"Yesterday just with the rain my breaks weren't [doing] that well so right now with the snow, black ice, it could get pretty bad just drive safely," Mata said.
