Largest annual Special Olympics competition in El Paso to run Saturday

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - Hundreds of local athletes will compete at the largest Special Olympics competition of the year this Saturday, the Special Olympics of Texas (SOTX) announced in a news release Friday.

Burges High School will host the Area 19 Spring Games on Saturday, May 6 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. SOTX officials say children and adults with intellectual disabilities will compete in track and field events.

To qualify for the Spring Games, the athletes must be at least eight years of age and have spent a minimum of eight weeks of training, officials say.
