Las Cruces Man Indicted in Drunk Driving Crash that Killed his Sister

Las Cruces, NM (KTSM) - A Las Cruces man was indicted on one count of vehicular homicide Monday after investigators say he killed his sister in a drunk driving crash earlier this year.

Adam Spaulding, 24, is charged with homicide by vehicle and aggravated driving under the influence, reckless driving, driving without a seat belt and driving without insurance.

The Doña Ana District Attorney's Office alleges that Spaulding driving back from El Paso with his sister  when he struck a concrete barrier on I-25 in Las Cruces on February 28th, killing his sister Jessica Sanchez, who was a passenger in his car.

Spaulding allegedly had a blood alcohol content of .19 at the time of the crash, more than twice the legal limit.

If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison for the homicide by vehicle charge and 180 days behind bars for the remaining DUI and reckless driving charges.
