LCPD charges man with sexual assault of 4-year-old boy

LAS CRUCES, NM (KTSM) - A 22-year-old Las Cruces man has been charged with the sexual assault of a 4-year-old boy and then threatening to hurt the boy if he ever told anyone.

Justin Gillette, 22, was arrested by LCPD officers after a warrant was issued for his arrest on Tuesday. He is being charged with three counts of Criminal Sexual Penetration of a Minor and Bribery of a Witness.

LCPD Investigators first learned of the incident after the boy's mother came forward to report the disclosure in May. Police say that the boy, now 7, told his mom about the alleged crimes in April and said that they happened at a relative's home in Las Cruces.

Several interviews, including a safe house interview with the alleged victim, indicated that Gillette showed the boy pornographic videos and then sexually assaulted him at least three times when he was only 4 years old. After the alleged abuse, Gillette reportedly threatened the boy if he told anyone what happened.

A warrant was issued for Gillette's arrest  on Tuesday and he was arrested and booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center later in the afternoon. He is being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond.
