Las Cruces, NM (KTSM) - Over 100 traffic citations were issued during a two-hour period by Las Cruces Police Thursday morning.
According to Dan Trujillo with the Las Cruces Police Department, the operation was initiated after complaints of speeders along Roadrunner Parkway and Sonoma Ranch Blvd.
The traffic operation was held from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning and ended with 101 citations issued including 68 for drivers who were traveling above the posted speed limit. Ten drivers were cited for not having insurance and nine were cited for a stop sign violation.
LCPD also issued a citation for a person on their cell phone while driving and another citation was given to a driver who was driving with her dog on her lap.
The department claims it plans on additional traffic enforcement operations in the future.
