Local non-profit helps less fortunate find homes

Over 1,000 people living in El Paso experience homelessness.

That's why the La Posada Home, Inc., a local non-profit, is looking for more donations.

With the help of grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, La Posada Home is able to assist families by covering rent and utilities for a year.

However, they're still in need of donations.

“When we move individuals into apartment complexes some of the families don’t have anything when it comes to furniture,” said Michael Flores, a volunteer. “What we try to do is receive donations from the community to help these individuals and so we can go ahead and put things in the apartment.”

He added, “It needs to be felt like a home and not just a house or an apartment."
