EPPD charges man in West El Paso car burglaries

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - El Paso Police said officers caught a man stealing from a car in the Mesa Village Apartments early Saturday morning.

Edgar Alaniz, 27, is charged with two counts of Burglary of a Vehicle and Possession of Marijuana following the incident.

According to police, officers were dispatched to reports of a possible prowler in the Mesa Village parking lot. When they arrived, they spotted Alaniz getting out of a car that was determined not to be his.

He is accused of stealing items from inside the car and also having marijuana on him at the time of his arrest.

Westside Tactical Units later identified Alaniz as a suspect in another Burglary of Vehicle case that happened August 29 at the neighboring Colores Del Sol Apartment complex.

Alaniz was booked into the El Paso County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
