EPPD charges pair suspected in Craigslist robbery

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - Two men are behind bars after allegedly scheming to steal a cell phone from a woman who was attempting to sell the item on Craigslist.

Anthony Ochoa, 19, and Tevin Lynch, 25, were arrested following the incident Thanksgiving weekend. According to police, the victim agreed to sell a cell phone to Ochoa that she had posted on Craigslist.

The pair met at an apartment complex in the 6800 block of Cielo Vista on the afternoon of Nov. 25.  When the victim arrived, police say Ochoa pulled out a pocket knife, stole the cell phone and fled the area. 

The victim was able to locate the phone for sale on the community buying/selling app Offer Up later in the day. 

The following day, police say Lynch met up to sell the stolen cell phone. Police working in the area were also able to locate Ochoa and take him into custody.

Ochoa was charged with Aggravated Robbery and outstanding warrants. His bond was set at $52,800. Lynch, who was on parole for a prior Aggravated Robbery conviction was charged with Theft over $100 and less than $750. He's being held on the parole violation without bond.
