EL PASO, TEXAS - One person is dead and another is suffering life-threatening injuries after a shooting Saturday afternoon in El Paso’s Lower Valley.
According to El Paso police, a woman shot a man multiple times inside a house then eventually killed herself.
Officers responded to the corner of Yarbrough Drive and Santa Maria Road around 4:30 p.m.
Sgt. Enrique Carrillo, a spokesperson with the El Paso Police Department, said the woman shot the man inside an undisclosed residence.
The man was able to escape but was chased by the woman, according to police.
Carrillo said the woman carjacked a person in the neighborhood and used the stolen car to chase the man.
An officer responding to the scene found the man collapsed in the road. That same officer told the woman to drop the gun.
Carrillo said, “The officer engaged her verbally only – giving her commands to drop the gun. At that point, the female that was armed with the gun turned the gun on herself and (died) on the scene.”
In all, officers are investigating four different crimes scenes.
Meanwhile, Yarbrough Drive from Parral Drive to Carolina Drive could be affected for several hours.
Last checked, the man remains in critical condition.
