EPPD Prepares for New Year's Eve DWI Surge

El Paso, Texas (KTSM) - El Paso Police's DWI Task Force is preparing for a DWI surge on New Year's Eve in order to keep intoxicated driver's off the road and protect citizens who are celebrating the holiday responsibly.

Additional officers from each Regional Command will assist DWI Task Force Officers in identifying and arresting drivers who may be under the influence on El Paso roadways.

The surge begins on Saturday, December 31st, but the day before is the Hyundai Sun Bowl and is also a day NewsChannel 9 would like to remind El Pasoans to not drink and drive.

Drunk Driving is a preventable offense. Remember to always designate a driver, call a cab or Uber, call a friend or call (915) 212-7777 to Sun City Cab for a free ride home from a bar.

For those wanting a safe ride to or from the Hyundai Sun Bowl on Friday, they've teamed with Uber to provide El Pasoans and visiting fans a $20 discount. Be Safe, El Paso.
