Family friends react to weekend murder-suicide

Family friends identify murder-suicide victims

EL PASO, Texas - Family friends have identified 42 year old Mary Haddad-Wilson and 29 year old Rebecca Wilson the victims in an apparent murder-suicide over the weekend in Northeast El Paso. According to marriage records they have been married since July 16th, 2016.

Based off of a police press release issued on Sunday the 42 year old (Mary) shot the 29 year old (Rebecca) before turning the gun on herself.

We are told by those that knew them that they both sang in the choir at University Presbyterian Church.

We know that Mary used to work at UTEP in the music department. We are told by staff that her father Steve Haddad currently works their. Steve Wilson is the music department chair at UTEP and says the entire Haddad family has been very involved with the program.

"All of us here are very close to Steve and all knew her fairly well....It's shocking none of us expected this to happen," said Wilson.

A sense of sorrow seen across the music department.

"You're in our prayers, that's what I said to him yesterday I know a funeral has been planned whatever he needs we'll be there," said Dr. Juanita Ulloa who is an instructor in the music department.
"Heart breaking, extremely extremely heart breaking," said one student very close to Steve Haddad.

The pastor at University Presbyterian Church says their will be a joint-service on Friday for Mary and Rebecca.

"We're all going to go to services we are there to do anything that they need us to do to help them in this terrible time of need and then just move forward," said Steve Wilson.
