Fort Bliss soldier pleads guilty in baby daughter's death

El Paso, TX (KTSM) - A Fort Bliss soldier accused of beating and killing his 2-year old daughter has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Dartarius Graham, 20, pleaded guilty Friday to charges of murder and injury to a child.

He was actually sentenced to 40 years on each of those two counts, but the judge allowed him to serve them concurrently.

Investigators say Graham beat his 2-year old daughter Peyton to death after she soiled her diapers at their Central El Paso apartment last year.

Graham's cousin and the girl's mother are also charged in connection with the baby's death.

Police Elizabeth Graham, 23, was not in the apartment at the time of the beating, but reportedly knew of earlier abuse to the child.

Robert Franklin, 19, allegedly witnessed the beating.

Their trials are set to begin on October 16.
