"Johnny Cash" sniffs out wanted man

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - An El Paso Police K-9 named "Johnny Cash" helped police located a wanted man in West El Paso ravine earlier this week.

Ricardo Israel Jacquez, 24, was taken into custody just after 10 a.m. Monday morning by the police K-9.

According to officers, they were dispatched to a Family Fight/Burglary call in the 4100 block of Westscity Court.  Upon arrival, they met with Jacquez who was allegedly involved in the initial call.

Police say Jacquez ran from them into a wooded ravine area behind the apartment complex. That's when "Johnny Cash" was called in to assist.

The dog quickly located Jacquez and police were able to take him into custody without further incident. Jacquez suffered scratches from the bushes in the ravine area, but did not require major medical assistance.

Jacquez was booked into the El Paso County Detention Center for Evading Arrest. His bond was set at $750.
