Son of beloved radio host Delilah dies

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - The son of beloved national radio personality Delilah has died after a long battle with depression, the host revealed on Saturday.

In a statement on Facebook, Delilah said her teen son Zachariah took his own life on Monday.

"He was being treated, counseled, and embraced fiercely by family and friends while battling depression for some time now," Delilah wrote.

"My heart is broken beyond repair and I cannot fathom how to go on," she added, "But I have to believe he is at peace with the Lord and that God will get us through."

Delilah who has 13 children, 10 of them adopted  said she will be absent from radio and social media "for a time" to grieve. She said her Seattle area production team will broadcast some of her favorite shows in the interim.

The host offered prayers to those suffering from depression and posted the number to the National Suicide Prevention Hotline (1-800-273-8255).

On her nationally syndicated radio show, Delilah plays love songs and offers advice to call-in listeners. The show reaches an estimated 8 million people across the U.S. and is broadcast in El Paso on Sunny 99.9.
