Winterfest kicks off in Downtown El Paso

El Paso, Texas - It's the first day of December and Winterfest has hit the Sun City for the first-time ever.

The ice rink in Downtown El Paso is now officially up and will be open to the public beginning on Saturday. This year is the inaugural Winterfest celebration and is located in the Arts Festival Plaza in between the Plaza Theater and the El Paso Museum of Art.

You can buy tickets for the hourly skate sessions for $8 for adults, $5 for kids 5 & under and $7 for military. You can also just go down and watch others skate and enjoy the sights and sounds of Downtown El Paso, just blocks from the San Jacinto Christmas Display.

Winterfest kicks off on Saturday and runs through January 8th. The rink will be open 5p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, and 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday. For a full schedule you can click here.

In addition to the skating, there is also a photo booth, and a giant snow globe for the kids to enjoy.

At the nearby Plaza Theater, Holiday Movies at the Plaza sponsored by One Source Federal Credit Union they will be showing several Christmas Classics, such as a Christmas Story, Home Alone, It's a Wonderful Life, The Muppet Christmas Carol, White Christmas and The Santa Clause.
