EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - Rosa Luna, the woman seriously injured in a crash involving two semi-trucks and five passenger vehicles on I-10 East near Yarbrough Thursday morning has died, according to police.
The crash happened just before 8 a.m. on Nov. 9 when investigators say Gary McDaniel, of Arlington, Texas was driving his semi-truck east on I-10 and failed to notice traffic had come to a standstill in front of him. McDaniel slammed into the back of Luna's Rav-4, setting off a chain reaction.
Luna hit the vehicle in front of her, which then caused three additional vehicles to be hit. The impact of the crash forced Luna's SUV into the next lane, where it was hit by another semi-truck.
She was taken to Del Sol Medical Center where she died on Friday.
This is the 44th traffic-related death of 2017 compared to 56 at this time in 2016.
