Las Cruces teen killed in weekend crash

LAS CRUCES, NM (KTSM) - A 19-year-old Las Cruces woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning according to police.

Sierra Knox, was killed following the crash in the 2000 block of Desert Willow Ct. around 1:40 a.m. Saturday. 

Police say Knox crashed a Ford F-150 pickup through a rock wall, coming to rest in the backyard of a home. Knox was unresponsive when emergency crews arrived and firefighters were forced to extricate her from the truck, acccording to reports.

The investigation shows that Knox was driving on University Ave. when she lost control on a turn and crashed through the intersection of University and Desert Sand. Police say she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Speed and alcohol also appear to be contributing factors in the crash, according to LCPD.
