Man charged with intoxication manslaughter in death of Horizon City father

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - El Paso County Sheriff's Office has charged a 60-year-old man with Intoxication Manslaughter in the death of 33-year-old Robert Jacob 'Jake' Najera after a head-on crash in Horizon last Thursday.

According to court records, Juan Garcia Silva, 60, was charged with Intoxication Manslaughter with a Vehicle and three counts of Intoxication Assault with a vehicle. He was booked into jail on Friday with his bonds total $300,000.

The crash happened last Thursday, April 13 around 7 p.m. in the 13000 block of Horizon. Investigators say that Garcia-Silva's vehicle struck the vehicle Najera, his wife and two young children were in head-on.

Najera was pronounced dead after being transported to an area hospital. His wife and two children were also transported to an area hospital where family reports that the 4-month-old is still listed in critical condition.

EPCSO says their investigation is ongoing and no other information is immediately available.
