LAS CRUCES, NM (KTSM) - Las Cruces Police arrested a man suspected of beating his girlfriend and her mother Saturday evening, a news release from the department revealed Monday.
At about 8:45 p.m., police responded to the 5000 block of Davis Road where James Moreno, 43, allegedly physically assaulted his 38-year-old girlfriend and her 55-year-old mother. Police say their injuries were not life-threatening.
According to a news release, investigators discovered that Moreno restrained or confined his girlfriend against her will and threatened her and her mother with a gun. Officers say they recovered the firearm during their investigation.
Moreno fled the scene before officers arrived, but was located shortly after and taken into custody, according to police.
Moreno, is charged with one count each of aggravated assault against a household member, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, larceny of a firearm. He was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center under a $50,000 cash-only bond.
