No Action Taken in Dona Ana County Manager's Contract

Las Cruces, NM (KTSM) - Doña Ana County Commissioners voted against taking action on County Manager Julia Brown's contract during Tuesday's meeting.

Originally, commissioners were scheduled to "discuss and take action" on Brown's contract but that item, along with two others, were removed by commissioners in a 3-2 vote.

Commissioners Ben Rawson, Billy Garrett and John Vazquez voted to remove the item.

However, County Commission Chairwoman Isabella Solis and Commissioner Ramon Gonzalez voted no.

Last year, county commissioners approved giving Brown a three-year extension with $71,000 severance package.

Since then, three new county commissioners have taken office, including Solis and Gonzalez.

Commissioners said they still plan on discussing Brown's contract in closed session. However, no official action can be taken without a public vote.
