EPPD, local group aim to fight animal cruelty in El Paso

EL PASO, TEXAS (KTSM) - A new unit within the El Paso Police Department is cracking down on animal cruelty with tougher consequences for offenders.

This now means anyone who harms an animal can be prosecuted. The unit was announced November 30th and works in partnership with a donation and foster based organization called Law N Paws.

Law N Paws was created by Vanessa Acosta with EPPD to help animals who have been victim of animal cruelty recover in a therapeutic environment before getting adopted.

The organization has been around for about a year. Anyone interested in fostering one of these animals can contact Law N Paws.
