Police seek hit-and-run driver involved in crash with LCPD officer

LAS CRUCES, NM (KTSM) - Las Cruces Police are asking for the community's help locating the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash involving a LCPD officer on Thursday.

The crash happened at the intersection of Amador and Water St. just before noon when a small 4-door sedan driving south on Water St. ran a stop sign and broadsided a Kia traveling through the intersection on Amador.

The force of the crash pushed the Kia into a marked police unit traveling west on Amador. The driver of the Kia was not injured and the police officer suffered minor injuries to her hand during the crash.

The driver of the sedan did not stop and render aid. The car fled west on Amador and was last seen driving south on Alameda Blvd. Police say the vehicle most likely has front-end damage and possible damage to the driver's side.

Anyone with information should call LCPD at (575) 526-0795.
