Santa Fe St. to open all lanes for Chihuahua's Opening Day

EL PASO, TEXAS - Opening day for the Chihuahuas is on Thursday, April 6 at home against the Las Vegas 51s and with that comes the opening of Santa Fe St. as well.

Santa Fe St. had been reduced to a single south bound lane due to the construction of the Streetcar Project, but is expected to have all lanes from Franklin to Paisano opened by Thursday afternoon.

"There's absolutely no reason to not get downtown to see the Chihuahuas play the 51s tomorrow night. Crews from the Streetcar Project have been working very diligently, planning ahead to make sure we could get the street re-open well in advanced of those tens of thousands of fans expected for this first game," says Martin Bartlett, a spokesperson for the Streetcar Project

Bartlett says the heaviest part of the project, which included adding the Streetcar rails and cement, was done last week.

There will still be a construction zone on Franklin avenue, which is reduced to single east bound lane from Santa Fe and Kansas.
