Tanning Salon Co-Owner Charged with 166 Counts of Voyeurism

ALAMOGORDO, NM (KTSM) - Alamogordo Police have re-arrested a man who is suspected of photographing women who were inside tanning booths at the Bahama Mama Tanning Salon, which he was a co-owner of.

Cody Garcia, 28, was initially arrested in June 2016 after Alamogordo Police received information regarding a possible case of voyeurism at the tanning salon located in the 500 block of North White Sands Blvd. A search warrant was executed at the business and investigators discovered surveillance equipment and a cell phone allegedly belonging to Garcia.

Over the last ten months, APD has identified 166 victims, who range from teenagers to over the age of 70 and are both male and female. 2 of the 166 counts of voyeurism will be charged as fourth degree felonies because the victims were under the age of 18. the other 164 counts are charged as misdemeanors.

Garcia was arrested again on Monday, April 10, by Alamogordo PD and booked into the Otero County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond in connection with the new charges.
