Teen brothers injured in serious East El Paso crash

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - El Paso Police are investigating a serious crash that sent two brothers to the hospital - one with life-threatening injuries - to the hospital late Wednesday night.

EPPD's Special Traffic Investigation Unit responded to the 1800 block of Zaragoza around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday night to a two-vehicle crash. Investigators learned that 16-year-old Matthew Delgado was driving south in the 1800 block Zaragoza in a 2009 Mustang when he turned left across the northbound lanes into a bank parking lot.

At the same time, a 2017 Mustang driven by Gerard Lusk, 20, was driving north. Lusk's Mustang hit the passenger side of Delgado's mustang where his brother, Emmanuel Delgado, also 16, was sitting.

As a result of the crash, Emmanuel Delgado was seriously injured and was taken to Del Sol Medical Center with serious, life-threatening injuries. Matthew Delgado sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital.

Lusk was not injured in the crash.

EPPD's STI unit determined that Delgado's failure the yield right of way while turning was the main factor in the crash. No citations have been issued.
