EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - El Paso County Commissioners are working to help local veterans take advantage of their benefits from the County's under-utilized Veteran Assistance Program.
Officials say the program has assisted 19 veterans so far, but has a goal of helping 100.
Commissioner Carlos Leon says he hopes the County can work with the program to create better outreach.
"Some veterans will tell me they've been a veteran for years and they weren't aware of the advantages they would have in services that are available to them they just didn't know," he tells KTSM.
