Walmart shoplifting suspects arrested

LAS CRUCES, NM (KTSM) - Two men are behind bars, accused of stealing nearly $2,000 in electronics from a Las Cruces area Walmart on Wednesday. 

David Curtis, 37, and Bryan Roberson, 38, are each charged with a felony count of shoplifting. Roberson is also facing an addition Possession of a Controlled substance charge. 

According to police, they were dispatched to Walmart in the 1500 block of S. Valley Dr. to reports of shoplifting in progress. Officers learned that two men were working together inside the store to open packages of electronic items and hiding the items.

The first responding officer identified Roberson as he left the Walmart and got into a waiting GMC Yukon and took him into custody. A few minutes later, Curtis came out of the Walmart and was also taken into custody.

Investigators learned Roberson and Curtis put most of the electronics in a large vacuum cleaner box and in their pockets.

The merchandise was valued at $1,830.  

The pair are currently being held without bond at the Doña Ana County Detention Center.
