Woman arrested for 2016 death of man in Lower Valley crash

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM - A woman who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for Accident Involving Death for the death of a man in the summer of 2016 was arrested in the Lower Valley on Tuesday.

According to officials with the El Paso County Sheriff's Department, Sylvia Quiroz, 44, was wanted on an outstanding warrant for Accident Involving Death stemming from a crash that happened on July 27, 2016 on Pendale near North Loop. Alexander Garcia, 46, was injured and later died as a result of the crash. 

According to court documents, Quiroz was driving when she was involved in a crash that resulted in Garcia being seriously injured. After the crash, the indictment alleges that Quiroz left the scene without rendering aid to Garcia or checking on him, despite the fact that he was in dire need of medical treatment.

A grand jury indicted Quiroz on March 30, 2017 and the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force which includes members of the US Marshal Service, El Paso County Sheriff's Deputies, TX DPS, Homeland Security and Border Patrol officials arrested Quiroz at a home in the 1400 block of Winslow in the Lower Valley on Tuesday.

Quiroz is being held at the El Paso County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
