Aggies To Travel To Omaha, Arizona State This Week

Las Cruces, NM - New Mexico State softball travels to Omaha, Nebraska, and Tempe, Arizona, to take on Omaha and Arizona State in conclusion to the Aggies' six-game road trip. NM State faces the Mavericks on Tuesday at noon. NM State takes on ASU in a doubleheader with the first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m on Wednesday.

STEAL CITY

 

Rachel Rodriguez is fourth all-time at NM State for career stolen bases. The junior has 12 this season and 59 steals in her career.

 

FAR OUT FAHREN

 

Fahren Glackin hit her first home run as an Aggies at Nebraska. The junior hit a long ball to center field in the Aggies extra-inning loss to the Huskers.

 

GETTING STREAKY

 

Victoria Castro is on a six-game hitting streak for NM State. Caity Szczesny and Kelsey Horton each have four-game hitting streaks of their own. Horton started the season by getting a it in each of the first 13 games..

 

LAST TIME OUT

 

NM State was swept at Nebraska to start the six-game road trip. The Aggies fell 7-6 in extra innings to open the Saturday doubleheader and followed with a 9-3 loss. Despite jumping out to an early 1-0 lead in the third game, NM State fell 4-1 in the series finale.

 

KNOW YOUR FOE: OMAHA

 

Omaha comes into the game with a 9-18 record. The Mavericks went 1-5 at the Rock Chalk Challenge with their lone win coming against Southeast Missouri.

 

The Mavericks have three players who post batting averages over .300. Lia Mancuso leads the team with a .350 batting average. She has also started in all 27 games for Omaha.

 

KNOW YOUR FOE: ARIZONA STATE

 

The Sun Devils post a 19-8 record this season. ASU was swept by Washington to open PAC 12 play. Arizona State was outscored by the Huskies 11-4.

 

ASU pitchers combine for a 1.41 ERA this season. Dale Ryndak leads the team in appearance with 14. She posts a 1.29 ERA and a 5-1 record. Breanna Macha has earned the most wins for the Sun Devils, so far, as she is 7-4 this season with a 1.69 ERA.

 

COMING UP

 

The Aggies take on I-10 rival in a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday, March 29, in El Paso, Texas. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. NM State follows the midweek tilt with the opening of conference play. New Mexico State returns home to host Utah Valley in a weekend series. The Aggies open the series on Friday with the first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m.
