Burges, Socorro and Eastlake Athletes Sign to College

El Paso, TX - Burges High School basketball standout guard Natalie Sanchez signed to Southern Utah University, aiming to play with her cousin, former Burges standout Becca Cardenas in Cedar City, Utah.  Sanchez averaged 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the Mustangs last season.

Also today, Viviana Parada, a soccer defender, will attend Richland Community College in Dallas. Her teammates, Arely Villalobos, a soccer defender, and Britney Berumen, mid-fielder soccer player, both will be signing with Sul Ross University.

Six Eastlake High School student athletes signed to colleges on April 20. Falcon soccer coach, Gibby Widner, who has had a winning program at Eastlake for several years, said his students are being recruited by colleges not only from the United States, but Europe, too.

Mia Molinar, Eastlake's goal keeper and team captain for the girls' soccer team, has decided to pursue her dream of playing with Huston Tillotson University in Austin. The senior was named All-District in 2017. She also was part of the team that traveled to Spain in 2016.

Noe Flaco, a defender and captain of the Falcon boys' team, will sign with Pine Manor College in Newton, Mass. He also traveled to Spain with the Eastlake team.

Daniel Mata, who plays defender and mid-fielder, also will sign with Pine Manor College. He was on the boys' team that went to Spain.
Striker Sean Ryan will sign with West Texas A&M in Amarillo. The senior, who also is a team captain, scored more than 100 goals in four years and also traveled to Spain.

Kevin Gomez, another Falcon captain and member of the Spain team, will sign to play with West Texas A&M. Gomez is ranked No. 4 in academics at Eastlake.

And Rafael Castrejon, middle fielder, will sign with Richmond, the American International University, in London. Castrejon also was a member of the Falcon team, who traveled to Spain.
