NMSU Men's Golf 15th at Lone Star Invite

Las Cruces, NM - The New Mexico State men’s golf team wrapped up the first two rounds at the Lone Star Invitational in San Antonio, Texas on Monday. The team’s play on the Briggs Ranch Golf Course saw them shoot a 592 (+16) to finish day one in 15th place out of 15.

 

The Aggies play was led by Luis Medina who shot 76-71--147 (+3) as he sits in a tie for 56th. Just behind Medina is Isaac Merry and Ryo Harada who each posted round totals of 74-74—148 (+4) to head into round three in a tie for 59th.

 

Freshman Jack Snyder is tied for 65th with scores of 75-74--149 (+5) and the Aggie lineup is rounded out by Michael McGilton with totals on day one of 77-82—159 (+15) to finish in a tie for 76th.

 

Through 36 holes of play, Medina, Merry and Snyder have each fired seven birdies apiece, while Harada posted five and McGilton added four.

 

Looking at the team standings heading into the final round, Illinois sit in first place with a score of  549 (-27), UTEP and Oklahoma are tied for second at 557 (-19) and host UTSA is in third with a two-round total of 559 (-17).

 

Tomorrow’s final day of competition begins with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. MT. Live stats for the invitational can be found on GolfStat.
