**The winning team in all eight games in series history has scored at least 31 points, with the last three winners scoring 34 points in each.
**UTEP interim head coach Mike Price has recorded a 2-0 mark against Southern Miss in Hattiesburg. The first victory was a 40-37, double overtime decision on Oct. 4, 2008 and second win came on Nov. 17, 2012 – a 34-33 triumph.  That win was also Price’s last as UTEP head coach before retiring at the end of the 2012 campaign.
**UTEP turned in its best defensive effort of the season Last Saturday, holding WKU to 282 yards of total offense, including 208 passing.  UTEP actually gained five more yards (287) than the Hilltoppers despite playing the last three quarters without running back Quardraiz Wadley, who suffered an apparent knee injury.
**Southern Miss senior RB Ito Smith posted his third-straight 100-yard rushing game in last week’s win at UTSA, finishing with 178 yards on 17 carries and a 10.5 per rush average.  He helped break open the game with an 89-yard scoring run up the middle, which ranks as the longest rushing touchdown from scrimmage in school history.  Smith has scored in each of his last four games and has 499 rushing yards over that span.  He also moved into second place all-time in the school’s career rushing yards mark and he currently has 3,736 for his career.
**Sophomore QB Keon Howard returned to the starting lineup for his second start of the season and fourth of his career against UTSA and registered 212 passing yards on 15-of-20 attempts, while also throwing for his first three touchdown passes of the year.  Howard, who started twice last year for injured signal caller Nick Mullens, collected his first multi-TD passing game in the contest.
