UTEP/El Paso put in bid to host Conference USA Basketball Tournaments

El Paso, TX - UTEP officials have confirmed to Newschannel 9 that they have put in a bid to host the Conference USA men's and women's basketball tournaments in 2017, 2018 and 2019.  The conference is expected to announce the next three years of C-USA Tournaments on Wednesday, May 25, from the conference meetings in Destin, Florida.

El Paso and Birmingham, Alabama are the only cities that have made bids on the next three years of conference tournaments. Birmingham has hosted the C-USA Tournament the last two seasons, while El Paso hosted in 2014 and 2011.  According to UTEP, the tournament had an economic impact of $4.5 million.

Also announced today, beIN Sports struck a new deal with Conference USA in a multi-year agreement to televise the league's football, basketball, and baseball games this year, according to the SunHerald. C-USA will reportedly still have contracts in place to have games televised by CBS Sports, ESPN and the American Sports Network.
